Writing a book about our child can be an uplifting and transforming experience, especially in the unique realm of adoption. At Memoirs for Life, I offer special expertise in writing or editing Adoption Books. My first adoption book, HELLO AIBEK! A Journey of International Adoption (AuthorHouse), chronicles our 2002 adoption in Kazakhstan. My new book, YOUR SACRED ADOPTION: A Guided Journal of Life, Love and Memories, is designed for any adoption parent. Here’s a brief description:
“When you adopt a child, hearts open. Deep feelings are stirred. Things happen that leave you shaking your head in wonder. Everyone is touched by something magical, something bigger than all of us. This guided journal will help you capture and preserve everything about this wondrous time.”
Both of my adoption books are available through amazon.com or by contacting me directly. Sharing what I have learned through adoption has been a special pleasure, and I’m always happy to hear from new clients looking for help with a book related to this life experience.
Adoption Books for Adoptive Parents
Preserving the story of your child's adoption, whether domestic or international, helps them honor their identity and their "birth"
into your family. It also provides you with permanent reminders of an unforgettable journey. And when you give your Adoption Book to
your family and friends, hearts open and bonds deepen.
As the writer of your Adoption Book, I will interview you and your spouse (if applicable) about your experience. If age is appropriate,
I also can talk to your child or children. I can assist you in choosing photos, journals, or other material you may want to include.
With my understanding, I will work to capture the fullness of this special life event.
Adoption Books for Birth Mothers
You have an important and powerful story to tell! No matter how long ago you placed your child, or no matter what the circumstances,
writing an Adoption Book can help you explore all the many parts of your life journey. If you have reunited with your child, you will
of course want to bring that experience forward. And if you have never had any direct contact with your child, your Adoption Book can
take the form of a letter that tells your daughter or son everything you would want to say to them.
Adoption Books for Adoptees
We've come a long way from the attitudes of the past of keeping adoption a secret. As an adoptee, whether young or old, sharing the
full spectrum of your story with others can be a truly affirming experience. And with your special lens on the world of adoption, you
also can provide a valuable educational resource for others.
